These were the "ask & you shall receive" Cubans!
A dear friend is visiting & had a hankering for a Cuban.
I seasoned & slow cooked a pork butt for 12 hours & shredded it.
Then, I baked bread with olive oil & oregano.
To assemble the sandwich, all you will need is:
2 slices of Swiss cheese
1 tbsp Dijon
1 slice of smoked ham
2 (bread & butter...but I used garlic dill) pickles
3/4 cup or more of the pulled pork.
Slice your bread. But, not all the way through. Layer mustard, cheese on both sides, ham on the bottom & pork on top. Grill under a panini press until crisp.
In leu of a panini press, I just put a heavy pan over the sandwiches as they are cooking in the skillet.
Once crisp on both sides, cut in half & indulge in a flavorful Cuban!
