According to google:
Garlic scapes are the flower bud of the garlic plant. The bud is removed in late June to encourage the bulbs to thicken up. Scapes make a fabulous addition to a flower bouquet, and they are delicious to eat! Scapes taste just like garlic.
After pickling them, they taste like a garlic dill pickle...and a little stringy.
At any rate, I thought it would be fun to dredge them in tempura and fry them in oil with a dash of sea salt.
They were crispy crunchy garlicky salty sticks of deliciousness —-do you feel the back of your mouth/jaw twinge?? :)
And, I grabbed one of the plates my grandma painted for a sweet presentation.
Try something new!
